Hair Transplant DHI

What is DHI Hair Transplant?

DHI (Direct Hair Implantation) hair transplant is an advanced technique in the field of hair restoration, which falls under the Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) technique. The DHI method is distinguished by its innovative approach to graft implantation, using a specialized device known as the Choi pen. This technique not only optimizes the precision of the procedure but also minimizes the need for shaving in the recipient area, which is particularly appealing for those who wish to keep their hair long in that zone.

How Does the DHI Technique Work?

Patient Preparation:

  • Medical Evaluation: Before the procedure, a thorough examination is conducted to ensure that the patient is in optimal condition for surgery. This includes blood tests and a detailed evaluation of the donor and recipient areas.
  • Anesthesia: A partial shaving of the donor region is performed (if necessary), followed by the application of local anesthetics to ensure the area is completely numb during extraction and implantation.

Follicle Extraction:

  • Hair follicles are individually extracted from the donor area using a mechanized micro-punch device, similar to the one used in the FUE technique. These punches are usually less than 1 mm in diameter, thus avoiding the "plug" look that older methods used to cause.

Graft Preparation:

  • The extracted follicles are prepared and organized according to their size and quality. This is crucial to ensure that the grafts are viable and suitable for implantation.

Implantation with the Choi Pen:

  • Choi Pen: This is the distinctive component of the DHI method. The Choi pen is a specialized pen that integrates the creation of incisions and the implantation of grafts in a single step. The pen has a sharp tip to make small incisions and a tube to load the hair graft.
  • Implantation Process: Once the grafts are loaded into the pen, the surgeon presses the plunger to insert the graft into the channel created by the pen. This allows for precise placement in terms of depth, angle, and direction of the hair.

Advantages of DHI Hair Transplant

  • Less Need for Shaving: Unlike the conventional FUE technique, the DHI technique allows the procedure to be performed without the need to shave the recipient area, maintaining long hair in the treated area.
  • Greater Precision: The integration of incision creation and implantation in a single step provides greater precision in the placement of grafts, resulting in a more natural hair distribution.
  • Less Damage to Grafts: By avoiding excessive manipulation of the grafts and performing direct implantation, the risk of damage to the hair follicles is minimized.
  • Better Aesthetics: The DHI method allows for more precise placement, resulting in a more natural and aesthetically pleasing appearance.

DHI Procedure Process

Preparation and Analysis:

  • A detailed consultation is conducted to discuss expectations and the treatment plan. Medical tests are performed, and the health of the scalp is evaluated.

Follicle Extraction:

  • The donor area is anesthetized, and the follicles are extracted using a mechanized device. The grafts are stored in a sterile solution until the implantation stage.

Implantation:

  • The follicles are loaded into the Choi pen. The pen makes the incision and places the graft in the recipient site simultaneously. A variety of pen sizes are used for different types of grafts.

Postoperative:

  • Once the implantation is completed, the area is
